I’m still going to update Blossom, but I’ve been so distracted lately; there’s a lot going on right now and it will be a couple of weeks before I can get started. I’m studying Bootstrap first, to know how to format my layouts, but I’m using _tk by ThemeKraft. It’s the skeleton theme that I used for this theme as well.
You can follow along with my progress with Bootstrap at http://bk2k.com. You won’t see anything exciting for a bit but hopefully before too long you’ll see the familiar but much improved Blossom theme there. Thank you for being patient with me!
I’m about to start working on Blossom, one of my favorite themes, making it fully responsive. Everything will look exactly the same on a desktop as it does now, but it will look great on a tablet or smartphone too.
I’ll be using the _tk theme from ThemeKraft.com as a boilerplate. I’ve been studying the Bootstrap framework and it really is something to behold. I wish I had started with it when I began updating themes, it would have saved me a lot of work.
I think it will go a lot easier this time since I’ve gotten my feet wet with the update to the RoseCityGardens theme and I expect things to go a lot more smoothly and quickly.
So stay tuned for the next responsive WordPress theme from RoseCityGardens.com – hopefully in the next few days.
Responsive as in responsive web design. I used the _tk theme from ThemeKraft.com, which is a combination of the Underscores theme and Bootstrap, as a boilerplate. So far I’m well pleased with it. I have a few tweaks here and there but expect to work them out over the next few days.
Soon I will start updating themes with the new responsive format. Stay tuned!
I am about to start the arduous process of recoding all my themes to be responsive across all devices, starting with my own theme. So if I start to look a bit weird here and there, rest assured that things will be back to normal soon.
According to Business News Daily:
Is your website mobile-friendly? If not, don’t be surprised if its ranking plummets on Google search results.
“Mobilegeddon” is here, and websites that aren’t mobile-friendly will suffer from the latest Google apocalypse. The search giant is officially updating its algorithms today (April 21) to favor websites that look and perform better on mobile devices, making them appear higher on search results.
The referenced article was published April 21, 2015, but I’ve been busy with other things and only saw it today, so I’m a little late to the party.
After my site’s theme I will start updating WordPress themes. Green Apples is going to change to two sidebars on the right rather than one on either side, for search engine and design reasons. I’ll be taking my time but it shouldn’t be too long. I had better not – technology moves so quickly, but one thing that won’t change is that mobile-friendly is here to stay.
Theme is available now at WordPress.org.
I’ve decided to release my Halloween WordPress theme, Haunted, now instead of waiting on it to be approved. I want it to be available in time for Halloween, and there are a lot of themes waiting to be approved. So here it is!
If you have any questions, please use the contact link above; don’t post a support question in the WordPress.org forum as Haunted has not yet been released there.
The awesome haunted house background comes from IndigoDeep at DeviantArt.com. I hope you enjoy this theme! And Happy Halloween!
My newest free WordPress theme, Interiors, is a super clean, flat design with custom background, custom header image, custom colors and the option to upload a logo. It has been submitted but not yet approved – you can see a screenshot here:
If you know how to click a mouse, you can completely change the look of Interiors through the Theme Customizer in the WordPress back end. Change the background color, the header image, change the colors and upload a logo – without knowing a bit of code.
Interiors has been submitted to WordPress but has not yet been approved. I may release it here if it takes much longer. In the meantime, to see other free WordPress themes, check the Themes link in the top menu.
My newest WordPress theme, Haunted, is not yet available for download, but you can see a preview by clicking the screenshot below. It’s been submitted to the WordPress.org directory, but if it gets much closer to Halloween and it hasn’t been approved, I’ll release it here. I think you’ll love it. It was a lot of fun to create.
UPDATE: Haunted is now published and can be downloaded. Clicking the below screenshot will take you to the Haunted page.
Haunted is an ideal theme for Halloween, but also works well for anyone who wants a dark, gothic feel to their website.
Because Haunted has not yet been approved, but it is already October, I will be updating this post today to provide a download.
